A hilarious story from my Night Elf hunter leveling. So after the Battle for Azeroth pre-order, the Highmountain Tauren have a portal in Thunder Totem which leads directly to the Horde Embassy building in Orgrimmar. Portals are nothing new, as they’ve been part of the game for a while: but you’d think, as one cannot use cross-faction portals, that no Alliance player could click on this portal and go to Orgrimmar, right? Right?

Wrong!

Out of curiosity, I clicked the portal and found myself one-shotted as soon as I materialized in Orgrimmar. After dying and starting from the graveyard south of Razor Hill, then having to walk my wisp spirit back at least two or three times (because the Old World zones won’t let you fly while a ghost, even though all the zones from Wrath onward do), I made my way to the back of the Embassy and used my hearthstone to return to friendlier territories (thank goodness for 7.3.5, otherwise this whole area would be filled with goblins and I’d have to either take the long way out through the west gate or take resurrection sickness).

This is my World of Warcraft main: Farseer Wdnz, a 110 Tauren elemental Shaman, vassal of the guild Fists of Glory, resident of the Exodar realm, formerly of Zuluhed.

History behind the name: As you know, I am a big fan of Norse mythology. I’ve been a fan of the Horde since Warcraft III, and therefore chose them instead of a Dwarf or Human (who would be more “Norse”). For a name, since any of the other ideas I had were taken (especially the names that sounded Taurahe), I made up this one from the Old High Germanic version of Odin’s name: Wodinaz, from whence comes the name of the day Wednesday, with the vowels removed.

Here we see me at various locations across Azeroth (and in Draenor of the past). The first two are at the cave in the mountains north-east of Mulgore, a place that has existed since classic WoW, previously inaccessible and viewed only from the flight master’s route. Noob me thought that Tauren players would end up here after completing classic Naxxramas and taking the portals at the end. The next two are in my garrison in Draenor of the past, and in Orgrimmar. The third picture is at the Maelstrom, possibly before beginning my Class Hall campaign in Legion. Next we see me outside Thunder Totem, wearing world drop Legion gear and my artifact, the Fist of Ra(i)den. To the right, my gear has been transmogrified to the Sanctified Frost-witch set from ICC, and I’m standing in the inn at Valdisdal in Stormheim, next to Riala the Hearth-watcher (ie. the best Vrykul female NPC outside of Northrend or Valhalla). Lastly we see me at the Maelstrom, having united the four elemental lords at the end of the Shaman Class Hall campaign, and me with my guild in the Emerald Nightmare raid (it didn’t end well).
